Medicaid Hospice Benefit

alt Just like Medicare, Medicaid sees Hospice as a comprehensive home care program that provides all the reasonable and necessary medical and support services for your terminal illness.

The Medicaid Hospice Benefit works the same as the Medicare Hospice Benefit. They can be seen as a "mirror" image of one another. In essence, both the Medicare Hospice Benefit and the Medicaid Hospice Benefit cover the same services.

Patients residing in a skilled nursing facility may elect hospice care under Medicaid. Medicaid will continue to pay for Room and Board. Medicaid will pay the hospice and the hospice will pay the nursing facility for the room and board.
