What Medicare Covers

alt Hospice provides palliative, not curative care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of you and your family. Hospice focuses on the relief of pain and symptoms which may accompany a life limiting illness.

It also provides all the reasonable and necessary medical and supportive services for the management of a life limiting illness.

Based on this philosophy, the Hospice Medicare Benefit covers:

• physician services and nursing care

• medical social worker

• home health aide &/or homemaker

• chaplain

• volunteer

• physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy

• medications related to hospice diagnosis and symptom control or pain

• medical equipment and supplies

• nutrition and dietary counseling

• short-term respite care

• short-term inpatient care (for pain and symptom management)

• grief and loss counseling for you and your family
